I loved Maggie Stiefvater’s Lament and Sarah Dessen’s The Truth About Forever, but my favourite reads were Sharon Jones’ Dead Jealous and Brenna Yovanoff’s Paper Valentine. My Favourite Writing Books
I own a small collection of writing guides in print and on audiobook, and have borrowed and read many more. I find writing guides can be a bit hit-and-miss. Sometimes, you end up reading the same advice over and over (anyone heard of ‘show don’t tell’?). Other books are just plain daunting, depending on how big a bee the author’s got in her bonnet about how tough writing and getting published can be. Getting into a Writing Frame of Mind
When you start writing, how do you get from this… ….to this? When I first started writing, I worried a lot about getting into the right frame of mind before each writing session.
