Best Book Read in May: LONG LANKIN by Lindsey Barraclough

Another month of fabulous books. In May I read/listened to: Not a Drop to Drink by Mindy McGinnis — I’d wanted to read this for a long time, based mostly on the gorgeous cover. A really good post-apocalyptic YA story, though the middle felt a little slow. Banished by Liz de Jager — Loved this! I struggle sometimes with fantasy, but this was absolutely brilliant. Very fast-paced with an excellent main character. Adored the budding romance between Kit and Thorn. Looking forward to book two in the trilogy. In Bloom by Matthew Crow — Another book I’ve been meaning to read for a long time, partly because of the amazing reviews and partly...

The Chocolate Book Challenge

The Chocolate Book Challenge

When I heard about the Chocolate Book Challenge—comparing chocolate to your favourite books—I knew I had to take part. As a chocolatier and writer, this challenge was made for me! Thanks very much to author Kerry Drewery for tagging me (read her post here).   Dark Chocolate     Growing up, I was never much of a dark chocolate fan, and would give all the darkest chocs in selection boxes to my mum. Since becoming a chocolatier, I appreciate dark chocolate a lot more. I think of dark chocolate as being a bit of an acquired taste, and more mature and sophisticated than milk or white chocolate. It also feels more substantial, and a little bit is...

GLIMPSE is on NetGalley + Real-Life Books!

Two exciting things from the last couple of days: 1. Glimpse is now on NetGalley! So if you’re a UK book blogger, you can request it here. 2. Real books exist! I got my hands on my first copy yesterday, and it’s even more beautiful than I imagined. The cover has a lovely matt effect, with foiled text on the front and spine. I love the spine especially, with its cloud-streaked moon. Check it out…       Share...

Interview with Kate Ormand, Author of DARK DAYS

I’m excited to welcome Kate Ormand to the blog. Kate is a hugely successful writer, with not one, but five books scheduled to be published over the next year and a half! The newest-announced of which, The Wanderers, a YA paranormal about shapeshifting horses, sounds right up my street. (Find it on Goodreads here.) Today, I’m interviewing Kate about her debut novel — Dark Days, a YA dystopian action-romance which releases in the UK and US on June 3rd. I was lucky enough to read a proof of Dark Days and really enjoyed it — it’s a hugely adrenaline-packed, fast-paced read. You can check out my review here. Blurb from Goodreads: The future world has...

GLIMPSE Launch Party – You’re Invited!

In a very short time Glimpse is being released into the world. I’m having a party at my agency’s bookshop in London to celebrate, and you’re invited! The launch will be on June 19th, and there’ll be nibbles, wine, soft drinks, chocolate, and I’ll be signing books. If you haven’t been to the Lutyens & Rubinstein Bookshop before, it’s one of the most stylish shops you’ll ever see — and of course, is chockablock with books (with a great YA section). Come along! Please RSVP as soon as possible — email me here. Hope to see you there! Children’s party photo credit: StaunchThrowback / Foter / Creative Commons...
