Never Evers by Tom Ellen and Lucy Ivision — YA contemporary. Written by the authors of the hugely funny Lobsters, Never Evers is aimed at a younger readership, so the focus is on friendship and first kisses rather than rude stuff. The romance is very sweet — some scenes felt almost Stephanie Perkins-esque — and Ellen and Ivision are excellent at nailing the intricacies of friendship. The Walls Around Us by Nova Ren Suma — YA magic realism. I’ve seen Nova Ren Suma’s books about a lot, but this is the first I’ve read. The Walls Around Us follows two teen ballet dancers, one of whom...

Let me know your most anticipated releases in the comments! JANUARY Never Evers by Tom Ellen and Lucy Ivision I adored Tom Ellen and Lucy Ivision’s debut, Lobsters, and have already picked up a copy of their next release. It promises to be funny and full of heart, and is getting great reviews. Judged by Liz de Jager The final book in The Blackhart Trilogy. Loved the first two books and can’t wait for the last...
Happy New Year! Hope you’re all recovered from last night, stuffed with the last of the mince pies, and excited for 2016. I certainly am! Writing Goals I didn’t have much I could shout about in 2015. But I did still do lots of writing — putting to rest a manuscript I’d been working on since 2010, and getting close to finishing a major re-draft of another project — both of which I still count as achievements! In early 2016, I plan to get my newest manuscript polished and off to my agent. Depending on what happens with that, I’d love to start a new writing project this year. Reading Goals I don’t usually set myself...
