Creepy YA Halloween Reads 2016

I seriously love Halloween. The one time of year when it’s normal to walk around in bat-print clothing (as I’ve been doing for the last week), and fill your house with skeletons and candles. It also means I get to write about my favourite creepy books, hooray! Or, rather, mwah-ha-ha. Looking back at the books I’ve read since last Halloween, here are my top YA recommendations. (Find my 2015 and 2014 recommendations here and here…if you dare.)         Breaker by Kat Ellis Breaker is the only book on my list that doesn’t contain anything supernatural, but it’s plenty scary enough to give you those Halloween...

Book Launch: Kerry Drewery’s CELL 7

Cell 7 has to be one of my most anticipated books of the year. The first in a trilogy about a teen girl on death row whose execution will be decided by public phone and internet vote, the premise just completely grabs me. I was excited last weekend to be invited to Kerry’s launch so I could finally buy a copy and have it signed! Kerry held her launch in a beautiful building in the shadow of Lincoln Cathedral, and it was packed with people. I took along my book blogger sister, who’d already started Cell 7 and was loving it. Looking back at my photos, I mostly took snaps of the food — but then it was very good food. (That...

Books Read in July 2016

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (HP#3) — Loved it. Each book gets better and better! Coraline by Neil Gaiman — MG fantasy. I really liked the Coraline stop-motion film, and loved the book too. Deliciously dark for MG. My Swordhand is Singing by Marcus Sedgwick — YA fantasy. I’m continuing my mission to read Sedgwick’s backcatalogue. My Swordhand is Singing explores original vampire folklore. Not my favourite of his books, but a quick read with some creepy moments.     Book of Lies by Teri Terry — YA paranormal...
